Why I want to give away my artwork
Thursday, September 28th, 2006This may sound crazy considering that most artists are looking for ways to sell their art, and some will probably be very upset with me when they find out that I want to give away my art.
However, art for me is the creation!
Here’s a few other reasons:
- I don’t want to try to sell it
- I can only hang so many pieces in my home
- I don’t want to store tons of art that will never be seen
- I feel the need to create something
- My high school art teacher asked me “Why can’t you just draw like your older brother?”
- My brother has most of the talent, but I like the process
- It’s something to blog about (and I hope you’ll blog about it too)
- I can do this with my children
- My college professor tried to explain (for an hour after my first class) how art is not subjective and this pissed me off
- It’s for fun
There are no hidden agendas, no selling of your information, and no mass emails that will annoy you (I don’t even like email anymore).
However, I’m hoping to fulfill my need to create, show off other amateur artists, give away my work so that someone can enjoy it (or sell it — I don’t care), and prove to myself that I can do it.
Remember: if you have any left over art supplies, I would love to get my hands on them.
